It is wonderful to see members at the various Groups gaining speaking skills and confidence. So many women this year have used their Penguin Club skills to gain new employment, commence university degrees, join community organisations and speak at various community functions. Confidence leads to new opportunities.Congratulations to these women.

Some of the workshops and tutorials which have been presented recently are:
Putting your heart into it   (Persuasive speeches)
After Five   (Entertaining speeches)
Polished and Passionate   (Presentation skills)
Social Speeches
Informative speeches and researching
Speak up to make a difference!
Participate in meetings or discussions
Impact of introductions
Making all welcome
Voice projection
Meeting styles and procedures
Impromptu speaking
Use of notes and the lectern

Coming events:

There are some exciting events happening:

The Greenhorns and Foghorns Afternoon Tea on the 15th October 2011.
There has been a wonderful response to this new opportunity for newer members (The Greenhorns) to speak in front of a larger audience including the longer term members (The Foghorns).

A guest speaker is presenting a “Just a Minute” workshop to be held at the Maroondah Group on the 25th October 2011 and many members from other Groups are attending the evening. If you attended Warren’s last workshop you will know it was a lot of fun and a worthwhile experience as far as gaining speaking skills and confidence.

The Inaugural Meeting for a new Victorian Group in the Casey - Cardinia area will be held on the 26th October 2011. All women are welcome to attend this special occasion and the regular meetings on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month at 8pm in the Berwick Neighbourhood Centre.

The 26th Dietrich Memorial Dinner and Competition on the 11th November 2011 will be held at the East Malvern RSL Club this year.  It is the annual speaking competition between speakers from Victorian Rostrum and the Penguin Clubs. This function provides the opportunity for speakers to gain valuable speaking experience as well as for all members and visitors to enjoy a highly entertaining and social evening.

The 7Oth Anniversary of the Penguin Club in Victoria on the 28th January 2011 is a major function for past and present members. It is certainly a milestone in Victorian Penguin Club history and a time to reflect and appreciate all the members who have worked hard to keep the Club going over so many years.
